Burnout To Breakthrough

Three burnouts, a wake-up call, and real change

Hard Hat, Steady Mind

From construction chaos to calm — on the job site and at home

You built a career with your hands and your hours. From the outside, it looks like you've got it handled. Inside, you're running hot — another twelve-hour day, another fire, another 2 a.m. version of the same question: how the hell did I get here?

I spent thirty years trying to out-work that question. Two bankruptcies. Three burnouts. A marriage I torched by never actually being in it. I could run any job site on earth and still couldn't run my own inner world.

Hard Hat, Steady Mind is the story of how that finally changed — and how it can change for you, without walking away from the trade you're good at. It's the whole climb: the honest ups and downs, and the tools that carried me from drowning to calm.

If you're running too hot, this book was written for you.

Inside, you'll find:

Why the hardest workers are the ones who break — and how to catch it before you do

The in-the-moment reps that steady you in the middle of a jobsite blowup

How to stay calm when the schedule, the client, and the crew are all on fire at once

How to bring the real you home to the people who've been getting the leftovers

Decades In The Chaos

I spent over thirty years in utility scale construction, more than ten as a manager, juggling crews, safety, budgets, and relentless deadlines. For years, I treated the constant strain as simply part of the job, not realizing it was slowly eroding my well-being and perspective.

Burnout Finally Broke Me

Being a controlling overachiever slowly cost me my health, my energy, and the relationships I cared about most. After three brutal burnouts, I finally stepped away for six months - exhausted, scared, and unsure who I was without the grind, yet quietly hopeful that a different way of living might exist.

Finding PQ, Finding Peace

During that break, Positive Intelligence found me, and everything shifted. Through daily mental fitness reps, I learned to quiet the inner critic, notice stress in real time, and choose a wiser response. I rebuilt my mind, returned to full-time construction, and now show up as the calm rock in chaos at work and home.
